Our Mission
The VIF Houston Archival Project was established to ensure that the rich civic history of the Memorial Villages Independence Festival is preserved for future generations. For years, this festival served as a cornerstone of community engagement, bringing together the neighborhoods of Bunker Hill, Piney Point, and Hunters Creek to celebrate local heritage and national independence.
We believe that understanding the massive logistical coordination, public safety partnerships, and community volunteerism required to execute such a large-scale event is vital to preserving the unique identity of the Memorial Villages.
Statement of Archival Independence
This website is an independently operated, non-profit digital repository dedicated exclusively to historical preservation. The VIF Houston Archival Project is not maintained by, funded by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the municipal governments of Bunker Hill Village, Piney Point Village, Hunters Creek Village, or the Memorial Villages Police Department. All historical photographs, logistical data, and civic records referenced on this site are compiled from public domain archives and community submissions for educational purposes.

We welcome submissions from the community. If you have historical photographs, planning documents, or personal accounts of the Memorial Villages Independence Festival (2014-2019) that you would like added to the digital repository, please reach out to our volunteer team.
